Luli Arroyo Weds

Presidential only daughter Evangeline Lourdes "Luli" Arroyo weds investment banker
Aloysuis Luigi Bernas at about 5 p.m. Wednesday in a very simple and private ceremony in Tagaytay, which was attended by only 26 guests, including one ninong and one ninang. The ceremonies were held at the St. Scholastica's Center for Spirituality Church in Tagaytay.

I think that was a sweet occasion. Nevermind the political unrest that this country is experiencing, or her mother's controversial moves, a wedding is a wedding. And for every woman, she wants her special day to be just that--special.

The very private Luli, although very much involved in the country's affairs, has from the start chosen to leave her private life private. There was much speculation about the impending wedding, but nothing was released to the media until after the wedding. I think that was very good, and it is actually very nice to hold a very intimate wedding party with only your closest family and relatives around. I am not sure if there were friends.

Anyway, it is about time that Luli got married--she is already 37. But of course, being the father, First Gentleman Mike Arroyo could not help but feel sad that his only daughter is getting married. He said he was happy that she was marrying a good man, but of course, it is different when you are giving your daughter away.

Luli's wedding was in stark contrast to the almost ostentatious weddings of children of government officials in the past. She chose to keep it private and was successful in doing so. I can only congratulate the newlyweds.
