Teacher Involved in Sex Scandal

The small city of Bacolod in Southern Philippines has been stirred quite a few times with sex scandals and nude photos of local belles circulating the internet and through cell phones.

The more recent homemade sex video caught the attention not only of the city of Bacolod but the entire province of Negros Occidental as well. Why? Because it was reported in the afternoon news of TV Patrol Negros of ABS-CBN (at least that was where I watched it). Why? Because the incident involved a public school teacher from Victorias City and her student (or former student).

The media got into it, as well as the Catholic church and of course the Department of Education whose authority the teacher is under.

I kinda feel bad about the teacher, but I really wonder why she fell for that. I guess if she wasn't aware that she was being videotaped in the act, we couldn't blame her. Her sex life is her prerogative and however she exercises it is beyond our judgment. But to have it on film, that is not really using the old noggin'.

And I wonder, too, that some teachers have been victimized by these similar circumstances involving relationships. I have known of teachers becoming queridas, while I think there were a couple of incidents when two young teachers were raped and killed by their text mates (or was it 3?) in our province. Why is that? Why the involvement of teachers?

If it were any other profession, I guess, I won't feel as bad. You may think I am partial, but I have such a high regard for teachers. I have had really good teachers during my school days and I respect them so much. For me, they are role models, albeit imperfect. And I think teaching is just a noble job and not everyone is cut out to be. You see, I have never attempted to teach (despite coaxing) because I don't think I have the capability of transferring my knowledge to others. That is why I so admire teachers.

To learn of teachers who commit adultery, who molest their students (both sexes), who influence their students to join them in a drinking spree, who get enamored by the mystery of text mates, who get raped and killed, and who get featured in their own X-rated film, that for me is a disgrace to a sacred profession. I dunno about you, these are are feelings and opinion about the topic.

But why? Are teachers having such dull dreary lives that they long for some excitement? I would say, there are other forms of excitement than the things I have mentioned above.

Well I think this is sad news indeed. My mother was a retired public school teacher and I believe all her life as public school teacher she has never been involved in any scandalous incidents such as these. I guess teachers before we're so much conscious about their profession than the generation of today. It really marks their image as tainted by these few teachers.

I think you've got it backwards.. the teacher in a male, and the student was a female. At least that's how they reported it in ABS-CBN. I also posted about this in my blog and included an excerpt from ABS-CBN website.

There's also a download link for anyone interested. Just visit http://www.mawespace.com/2008/05/bacolod-teacher-student-sex-scandal/ to see for yourself.
